We visited the Beirkeller (in Liverpool) on one of our spontaneous ‘we need somewhere to eat, quick, hit the Tastecard website’ trips.
Despite being vast, it’s fairly tucked tucked away on the fringes of Liverpool One and we managed to walk past it even while being guided by Google maps.
We visited on a Tuesday afternoon so it was lovely and quiet and we took advantage of the outside seating to enjoy the sunshine, although when I spoke to the waitress, she said it’s a different story on a weekend evening when the place is heaving (‘Ompaah’ing takes place on the weekend!).
The menu is extensive and reasonably priced but I would definitely stick to a burger if we visited again. Hubby’s burger and fries were really very tasty but the Springbok Tagine was very dry and the Mac Cheese was mostly cheese, very little mac and was cold. I get the impression burgers and bar food is what they are good at.
The range of beers and lagers available (as you’d expect given the name!) was extensive and the waitress recommended some lovely Continental lagers for us.
Overall, good for a cheap, cheap bite to eat.
