What a brilliant day out! Best value and most fun motor sport event we’ve been to in a long time.

Review_My_Trip_Chataeu_Impney

Chateau Impney Hillclimb absolutely trounces Goodwood (both Revival and FOS which we’ve previously attended) for bang for your buck at £20 per adult (advance booking, £25 on the day).  It wipes the floor with CarFest North (for a start, it has a good selection of cars actually moving!!).

There are free fair rides to keep children occupied. Any paid extras are sensibly priced (e.g £5 for a tank ride or the Wall of Death – which is a must see spectacle).

All the amenities were clean and plentiful.  There were lots of proper toilets around the site, none of the dreaded Portaloos!

The parking is ample and well organised so getting in to and out of the event was quick.  Be sure to park in the forward car park if you’ve arrived in a classic car.  Don’t forget to take time to walk around that car park if you’re a classic car enthusiast.  It was a comprehensive display in it’s own right.

The programs were only £5 and made a nice souvenir.

The food providers seemed carefully selected and provided a really wide and high quality range at just below standard ‘festival’ prices.

The site is compact, compared to many similar events, and so ideal if you’re visiting with folk with older or very young legs (take care on some of the grassy slopes, they can become slippery). There’s also a shuttle cart to reduce the walking if you struggle.

The paddock access is very relaxed and you can get up close to the vehicles.

Viewing of the hill climb itself is excellent, with lots of vantage points up close to the action. Alternatively, there’s the Pimms Lawn which acts as a natural amphitheatre (some deck chairs provided but suggest you bring your own). You can’t take your own alcohol into the event but there’s bars on site. They welcome you taking a picnic which is refreshing and helps keep costs down further if you’re visiting with a family or group.

I’d go so far as to say there’s enough to keep you occupied even if you’re not particularly into anything motorised!

A resounding well done to the organisers. You nailed it!

Keep your eyes peeled for confirmation of 2020’s dates;
