A good pit stop when out walking in the Mam Tor area or a good destination for a drive or ride out.

We met the landlord, he eyed us with suspicion (see the big cat pictured 😂 He seemed to rule the roost, making himself very comfortable in the bar).

Pub_Grub_Castleton_Review_My_Trip

Good pub grub at prices around the usual mark (>£12 for a burger). The Sunday carvery was good value at £10.50. Burgers were delicious but the chips let them down (chunky frozen efforts), they weren’t up to the same standard. The hommity pie was very much enjoyed!

There is parking available. £4 but that’s refundable against food which is a blessing in the bustling village of Castleton.

Dogs are welcomed in the outside seating areas (water provided) but they aren’t allowed inside. Given the location of this pub (in a rambling heartland), it’s a shame there isn’t an area where this is possible.

Rooms are available (£80 weeknights, £90 on the weekend). The Bulls Head make a great base for exploring Mam Tor and the surrounding area.
