The Fat Boar in Wrexham was a welcome and much needed addition to Wrexham’s eateries when it opened in December 2016. Its speciality evenings and Boozy Brunches have now become a permanent fixture and continue to offer something different.

I sampled my first Boozy Brunch with a group of friends earlier this month and am an official convert to day time drinking. Far more civilised than a traditional night out; all the tiddly fun of an evening out and home in time to cook a Sunday roast!
Tickets are booked in advance (full payment taken at the time of booking) and are £25 per person. This includes unlimited cocktails (from the brunch menu) and prosecco between 11am and 1pm (no double parking ;-).
The cocktails are all pretty calorie laden with either fruit juice or cream bases (they pre mix them to ensure a speedy service) but then if you’re training for a marathon, a boozy brunch probably isn’t going to feature as part of your training regime and a few cocktails won’t hurt!
There’s a comprehensive brunch menu to choose from (also included in the ticket price). I opted for the veggie version which was delicious. The staff were very accommodating for our vegan friend. I think she had the biggest plate of food of all of us! The salmon and eggs Benedict was the perfect accompaniment to the Mimosa cocktails – every Sunday morning should start that way!

The next Boozy Brunch is 4th March…early Mother’s Day present for the Mum’s who like a tipple??!
thefatboarwrecsam.co.uk/ also has a sister restaurant on Mold offering a similar style of cooking and a pre-theatre menu http://thefatboar.co.uk/menus/sample-taster-menu/
