I recently visited the Pizza Express restaurants in Broughton (Chester), Wrexham and in Cheshire Oaks (Ellesmere Port) and have come to the conclusion that Pizza Express is the Premier Inn of restaurant chains, and I 100% mean that as a compliment. The total bill cost (if you use one of the diners discount cards or one of the many voucher codes available on line or through their mailing list) make them excellent value, the quality is consistent and you know exactly what you are going to get (if Pizza Express is Premier Inn, then Prezzo has to be Travelodge, all a bit more hit and miss!).
OK, the wine and bottled beer can be a bit pricey, which stings if you aren’t taking advantage of a special offer on the food bill. I certainly wouldn’t want to consume a lot of wine in one despite them having an excellent Pinot Grigio, but for a bite to eat while out and about or shopping, it really is tough to beat.
They even manage to keep the egg on top of the Carbonara pizza runny which is no mean feat.
Dates of visits: September and October 2015
