After getting married in the Abode, Chester 2 years ago, the Abode has been our preferred choice for accommodation on our annual jaunt to the pretty Cheshire city.

Clock tower, Chester -Review My Trip

We decided we’d have a change this year though and after using Oddfellows previously for a photoshoot, I had been dying to check out their new rooms.

We opted for a Newbrook room (currently from £119/night) and am now converted, Oddfellows all the way!

Check in was smooth and efficient and when we spoke to reception about an odd smell in the room, someone was promptly despatched up to us with some lovely air freshener (once we had a few windows open, the room was fine), although we had to chuckle that they couldn’t leave it with us due to COSSH regulations!

The Prosecco we had pre-ordered was delivered well chilled with glasses already in the room, but there’s a well stocked mini bar in case you’ve not pre-organised anything.

The round bed was novel, but massive and wonderfully comfortable.  The bathroom on the mezzanine floor with its double shower was again a real treat.

The room and decor are full of quirky touches as you’d expect if you’ve ever visited the bar, you can even buy some of them to take home with you.

I’d highly recommend having a few drinks in the bar, I may well have consumed more than my fair share of their ‘Thyme of Your Life’ cocktail, delish if you like a gin based cocktail.

They have an extensive menu, including afternoon teas (a perfect way to get a hen party under way or for a baby shower) and a beat the clock offer if you don’t want to venture out.

I’m very excited to see what the are going to do with Bruntwood Hall in Cheadle next year, but in the meantime, will content myself with working our way through the rest of their splendid rooms and cocktail menu!

Date of Visit: August 2015
