The Sandstone Inn is a traditional pub sitting just off some lovely walking routes in Broxton, Cheshire (complete with a cosy fire in the Winter…..I have a friend who absolutely insists that pubs she visits have a cosy fire….that’s for you Sazzle)

Country pub in Cheshire - Sandstone Inn

We’ve visited three times now and have experienced great food and a warm welcome on each occasion (although don’t go for the fish pie if you don’t like dill!). ย The menu always has great vegetarian options on it too.

If you like real ales, there’s always a fine selection on offer as the pub has recently being taken over by the folk at The Sandstone Brewery. ย I’m leading my discovery of real ales here and find a spot of lemonade really transforms the more hoppy brews.

There’s a bar area if your kitted out in walking, motorbiking or cycling gear where you can also dine, ditto if you’ve got a canine companion (they even get their own bed and water bowl).

Price wise, it’s very reasonable, certainly very good value (the portions are on the large side too).

Date of last visit: August 2015
