Glan y Gors Karting scratches the itch for petrol heads and is a giggle for those who just enjoy driving or a challenge.
We booked online for an arrive and drive session for two people (£17 per person) and I’d hoped to book the karting experience for two (£45 per person including a balaclava to take home) to follow on from this so that we could have a play in the bigger karts once we’d got our bearings on the track. I struggled to do this on line. It turns out the karting experience for two is really geared up to be given as a gift so needs to be bought and booked separately.
It’s a good idea to book in advance, especially if you’re travelling any distance, but we were able to tag onto another group and fit in an extra arrive and drive session, which I was pleased about as it was addictive!
The top tip they give you in the safety briefing is remember how wide the back of the kart is. Some of the kerbs are big and it’s best to remember this one, you don’t want to clip them!
I’d also recommend shoes with a thinnish sole (I wore my bare foot running trainers, they were perfect), and if you own a motorbike, take your helmet so you can use that rather than the ones provided.
There’s cafe facilities on site if you need a coffee or tea to warm you up and a range of snacks to keep you fed.
All sorts of different group packages are available (including packages for children) if you need an idea for a party, works do, stag or hen.
Minute for minute, it’s not cheap but the staff there were friendly and helpful and there to make sure you got the best out of your sessions.
